Lamar Hatcher

Lamar Hatcher, 23, died Feb. 24 in Chester.
Chester police were dispatched to the 400 block of Yarnell Street around 2:33 a.m. Feb. 24. They found Hatcher behind the homes on the block, unresponsive. Paramedics were dispatched, but Hatcher could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jamecia I. Toler

Jamecia I. Toler, 22, died Feb. 19 after being shot in the parking lot of J&S Seafood in the 800 block of Kerlin Street in Chester.
Toler was one of four people shot during the early morning domestic incident. The other shooting victims survived, including the alleged gunman, who police say shot himself in the head after the incident.
Toler, a 2009 graduate of Chester High School, was the mother of two young children. 
Her alleged killer, Edwin Soto Jr., was arraigned on first and third-degree murder charges at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is being treated.

Mark DeShields, 29, of West Philadelphia, fatally shot in Chester

  Mark DeShields, 29, of West Philadelphia, was close to completing his court-ordered sentence at a local halfway house when he was shot and killed early Jan. 27 in Chester.
 According to police, DeShields left Minsec, a halfway house located in the 200 block of East 12th Street, at 4:30 a.m. to take his wife to work. He had reached 12th and Madison streets, about one block away, when someone opened fire, striking DeShields.
 Police responding to shots fired found him on the sidewalk outside of the Madison Grille. He was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:14 a.m., according to authorities.
 The homicide, the second for the city and the third for the county in 2012, is under investigation by city Detective Robert Whitaker (610-447-7813) and county Detective Edward Kazlo (610-891-4700).
